I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Mine was pretty relaxing. I mostly just lounged around most of the afternoon and ended up taking a nap. Originally I planned for us to go on a hike, but I didn’t feel like rushing around to get ready, since we had to be back by a certain time. It’s supposed to be really nice this week, so I hope to get in a hike one of these days:)
A while back I mentioned that I planned to run the Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon in North Bend WA if I could get in. Apparently the race sells out within minutes and is hard to get into. I kept checking back every once in a while to see if the registration date was posted on the website to no avail. There was never any mention of it. Sadly in March, I went on the site and it was already sold out:(
Apparently they mentioned it on Facebook or something? How are new runners supposed to get the chance to run this race if there is no way to be alerted of registration? After reading comments on their Facebook page, it seems that many people couldn’t even get onto the registration page because it was so busy. So, even if I knew when to register, I may have been out of luck.
This kind of thing is kind of frustrating. I feel like if you have a race that sells out so quickly, maybe at a certain point there needs to be a lottery system like some of the bigger races do. I’m sure the race just ends up being the same people every year because they know when and how to register to ensure they get in. Let’s let some new people in please:)
Although I know there are other races I could do, this one was the one I really wanted, so I will be putting off a possible marathon until next year.
Have you ever run into this type of situation when trying to register for a race? Do you just decide to do a different one or keep trying?
I feel like if it’s meant to be, it will happen.
Have a great day and happy running!
